The 'AI Debate' is an authentic, interactive assessment in which students examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping individuals, organisations and the future workforce. Through a live debate and AI-supported reflection, students critically evaluate competing perspectives, communicate evidence-based arguments, and demonstrate independent judgement, constructive engagement and critical literacy.

The ‘Practical Demonstration’ is an authentic, inclusive and secure assessment where students act as business analysts, responding to a workplace-style briefing using a previously unseen dataset. Working under invigilated exam conditions, students apply data analysis, visualisation, predictive modelling, and communication skills to deliver evidence-based insights for decision-making while demonstrating industry-relevant analytical, problem-solving, and professional capabilities.

Students form groups and collaboratively complete supervised paper-based tasks

The Management Consultant Briefing is an authentic Interactive Oral Assessment where students act as tourism consultants, presenting evidence-based recommendations to improve visitor experiences. Engaging in a professional conversation, students apply disciplinary knowledge, justify decisions, and respond to client questions while developing industry-relevant communication, problem-solving, and professional skills.

This Oral Exam format (approximately 10 minutes) tests mastery of ideas and texts while building oral presentation skills, especially rhetorical adroitness.

In this assessment item students are asked to do a brief presentation on a character or theme from a course text. They are then asked questions (that they have not seen prior to the assessment) about the text and other course material. Both the presentation and question answers must be given in French. The task is designed to assess their comprehension of the course material and their fluency and spontaneity in French.

Students are required to complete an individual assignment (20%) on conducting fundamental analysis of a listed company. This company will later be included in the team project (20%) for students to conduct extensive analysis. The team project is followed by a live Q&A session (10%) and a compulsory peer assessment evaluation. These authentic assessments use real-world data to encourage students to think critically and apply textbook-based knowledge to real-world situations.

Students are asked to write a response to a question about their assigned reading during their tutorial.

Students complete their exam papers whilst being invigilated through Zoom focus mode which allows not only a view of the student and their immediate surrounds, but also allows for the student’s screen to be shared with staff.
