Group Site and Precedent Analysis for Design Studio
Students work in teams to collate and critically analyse a building site, and precedent building designs, that they will use for an individual design later in semester. They learn to work quickly in teams and to critically reflect on their own and team-mates work, in studio. The work is jointly presented in modified 'pecha kucha' style (20 slides for 30 seconds each only) to further share their ideas with the rest of the studio cohort.

Industry Partnered Feasibility Analysis
This is a live industry assessment that required students to work on a feasibility analysis for an innovation for a Tourism or Hospitality organisation. Students worked in self assigned teams of four to develop a 4000 word report that provided our industry partners with a market analysis, an analysis of the Political, Economic, Social and Technological (PEST) environments and recommendations as to how best develop the innovation and take it to market. This WIL industry partnered assessment resulted in the development of student / industry relationships as students were encouraged to engage with their allocated industry partner to guide the focus of their reports.

Management Team Meeting
Following a Team-Based Learning (TBL) pedagogy, students are placed into teams of 6-9, and act as the Executive of an Organisation. Confronted by changes in the organisation's internal and external environments, they apply theory from key frameworks in strategic management theory to make strategic decisions on behalf of their organisation.

Online Simulation
This assessment consists of three assessable tasks linked to an online airline simulation that learners complete throughout the semester. Learners are grouped into teams to set up, manage and operate their airline. The first assessment task is a 5-6 minute video proposal and contributes 15% of the final grade for the unit. The next assessment task requires students to write an annual report based on the performance of their airline after four quarters. This task is weighted at 15% and is also a team-based assessment. A further 10% is allocated to teams based on various simulation performance metrics.

Pair-Interview
Designed as part of an active, applied learning pedagogy, this assessment sees students conduct a live interview or conversation with a peer, with the aim of demonstrating their proficiency in a relevant practical skill or piece of theoretical knowledge. Although performed in pairs, students are marked individually for their contributions.

Peer-led Class Engagement Activities
Designed as a low weighted, in-class activity to increase student engagement and to foster skills in facilitation and leadership, this assessment sees students take on the role of leading various small activities. These may include preparing the learning environment, facilitating a class warm-up activity, or hosting a mid-class break.

Practical Industry Relevant Investment Report & Model
This assessment is based on the work that a typical 1st year to 5th year graduate would do as an investment analyst. They are required to work in a team of four and complete extensive research and analysis of a company, it's industry and competitors. Then develop a rigorous financial model to value the company and write an in depth report for an investment committee to recommend buying or selling this investment.

Problem Based Learning Workshop Activities
Underpinned by a problem-based learning pedagogy (PBL), this assessment sees students attend weekly workshops where they are presented with a scenario based on weekly course content (and related to a contemporary, real-world issue). Students work in small groups to formulate a response or solution to the problem/s, discussed in class.

Reflective Essay on Refugee Artefacts and Refugee Law
The assessment promotes critical reflection utilising refugee artefacts to enable law and politics students to connect their theoretical knowledge and understanding of international refugee law and human rights law with the 'lived experience' of certain asylum seekers detained offshore on Nauru or Manus Island. The assessment encourages students to reflect on their own learning experience by identifying and explaining the connections between selected refugee artefacts (including letters from the Burnside/Durham Collection in the Fryer Library, semi-autobiographical books, radio podcasts, cartoons, documentaries or op-ed newspaper pieces) and refugee and human rights law.
